I’m like 90% back to normal…

I had my surgery on Tuesday. I took the pain meds my doctor prescribed Tuesday night and one Wednesday morning. That was the last time I took them. I didn’t like what they did to me. Wednesday and part of Thursday, I took a mild dose of ibuprofen and then Thursday night I remembered that I can’t take ibuprofen with one of the regular meds I take, so I stopped the ibuprofen and went with Tylenol. Took some of that to go to sleep Thursday night and then never took any on Friday or today, Saturday.

I’m tender, because my surgeon opted to go with staples to close my incisions. Every time I breathe deep, laugh, cough or try to reach for something, my stomach moves and tugs on them. I slept sitting up on the couch in the living room since my surgery and last night was the first night I slept in my bed. OMG! It felt so good! Waking up today, I feel mostly back to normal, except the tenderness from the staples. It’s weird to look at my stomach when I’m cleaning my incisions, seeing metal staples in my skin, but they look okay and so far everything is healing well. I keep band-aids over them to keep them clean and so they don’t rub or catch on my shirts.

My follow-up appointment is not until Friday, which is the earliest I can get in to have my staples removed, so I have another week to go with these, but I don’t think it’ll be too bad.

All-in-all my experience was positive. Everyone at the hospital was nice and I’m glad it’s finally over, so I can start feeling better. Even though this really came to a ‘head’ in early-May, I’m pretty sure this has been coming on for years, which is what my doctors all said happen… Anyway, I’m though the worst of it, I think, so that’s a good thing.

Thanks for all the well wishes, prayers and support!!! It really means a lot! Love ya all!!! <3 :D
